ABOUT S. Amy Spencer

Amy joined Shaheen & Gordon's Concord office in the spring of 2015 after serving as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Steven J. McAuliffe of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.Amy has returned to her roots in New Hampshire from New York where she was a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins LLP and McGuireWoods LLP. Her practice there focused on white collar criminal defense, government and regulatory investigations, complex commercial and securities litigation, and employment litigation. Amy was also active in the firms' pro bono programs, representing individuals and non-profits in civil rights litigation, veterans seeking medical benefits and disability compensation from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, individuals seeking asylum, and individuals and non-profits in commercial and employment matters.Before entering private practice, Amy served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2007-2008), the Honorable John E. Sprizzo of the United Stated District Court for the Southern District of New York (2008), and the Honorable Kevin Thomas Duffy of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (2009-2010).Prior to law school, Amy served as Department Chair and taught middle school English in Long Beach, California. Before that, she was the public relations director for the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the International Hockey League. She earned her B.A. in English from Columbia College of Columbia University and graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2007.Amy is also active in the community. She serves on the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Pelham and on the Board of NH Kids Count, a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of all children by advocating for public initiatives that make a real difference.
