Although born in New Orleans, I have lived most of my life in Lynchburg, Virginia. I was educated in the city’s public schools, and after a brief educational experience in Boston, became one of the few male graduates of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. It was there that I met my wife, the former Ann Randolph Holland. We have been blessed with two, now adult, children.
After law school at the University of Virginia, I returned to Lynchburg to practice law in 1980. Having worked in four different law firms of various sizes and accumulating a wide range of experience in many areas of the law, I decided, in 1997, to open my own office to allow me to practice law in my own fashion, stressing professionalism and client service over the business aspects of practicing law. That decision has proven to be a good one.
In addition to maintaining a busy law practice and raising a family, I have been very active in the community, serving as a director and/or an officer for a number of charitable and other non-profit organizations. (A listing can be found in the COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES & ASSOCIATIONS page) I have found such service to be quite rewarding and plan to continue in these pursuits.
When I find spare time, I would most likely be on a golf course, being an avid (though not particularly good) golfer. If it is too dark or too cold to golf, and I’ve done my chores, I’ll probably be cooking, watching a movie, or reading a novel.
