Stan is a proud to be a Murfreesboro, Tennessee native and a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran. Stan attended law school at Cumberland School of Law after completing twenty years of active duty service, and retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
At Bennett and Michael, Stan practices in Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Divorce, and Family related matters. His particular interest is assisting veterans and their families in criminal defense and civil matters. Stan is a graduate of the Tennessee Criminal Defense College and has been designated a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers, and a Top 100 DUI Lawyer in Tennessee by the National Advocacy for DUI Defense.
Before entering private practice, Stan was a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Alabama and law clerk to Chancellor Robert E. Corlew, III in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Stan then joined McClellan, Powers, Ehmling & Rogers, P.C., practicing Insurance Defense, Criminal Defense, and Family Law.
Prior to attending law school, Stan served on the faculties of the U.S. Naval Academy, and Vanderbilt University, as a staff officer and classroom instructor of History, English, Ethics, and Character Development. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Arts degree from St. John’s College, in Annapolis, Maryland, a Master of Business Administration degree from Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama, and a Juris Doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Stan attends Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, in the East Nashville community, and belongs to several professional organizations to include, Tennessee Association for Justice, Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Trial Lawyers, National Advocacy for DUI Defense, Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association, American Inns of Court, and the Veterans Law Consortium in Washington, D.C.
