Stan’s practice areas include bankruptcy, creditor and debtor representation, estate planning, commercial law, taxation, and real estate. He has lectured for continuing education regarding real estate law in South Dakota and made estate planning presentations to such organizations as the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, the Rancher’s Workshop, and the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo. He has served as attorney for various unsecured creditor committees in chapter 11 bankruptcies. He currently serves on the Debtor/Creditor Committee of the South Dakota Bar Association and is a member of the South Dakota Bankruptcy Court Rules Committee.
Stan received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of South Dakota and worked for Touche Ross, one of the Big 8 accounting firms in the world, (now Deloitte Touche) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While attending law school, Stan worked as an internal audit manager for a manufacturing company.
Stan has served as an officer with the Noon Optimist Club and an officer with the Rushmore Lions Club of Rapid City. In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Lions Foundation, Inc. where he served as President and currently serves as Treasurer. These organizations are dedicated to serving the community of Rapid City and the state of South Dakota. Stan and his wife attend the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Finance Committee and the Administrative Council.
In his free time, Stan enjoys fly fishing and golf. He has been married to his wife, Bonnie, for over 40 years. They have two children and have served as foster parents.
