Steve Gnau became a member of The State Bar of California in 1995 after graduating from California Western School of Law that same year. He was born in Lebanon, PA and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas. Mr. Gnau has been a San Diegan since 1992.
In 1995, Steven Gnau established his litigation practice in San Diego which has adhered to the founding principle of putting clients' values ahead of his own. Over the years, an emphasis has been placed on litigating personal injury and insurance claims which now account for nearly ninety percent of his caseload. This path was the result of studying bio-chemistry and pre-med at the University of Texas and subsequently working for two medical malpractice defense firms while attending law school. After becoming disenchanted with big insurance companies and doing defense work, Mr. Gnau chose to represent individuals against the insurance defense industry. Mr. Gnau also maintains a small niche practice representing officers and directors in litigation involving claims of breach of fiduciary duty.
Mr. Gnau has been a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and the American Inn of Court. Mr. Gnau is a regular lecturer for the Continuing Education of the Bar of California, founded by the University of California, teaching tort law and insurance coverage. In 2004, Judge and former San Diego Mayor, Dick Murphy honored Mr. Gnau by recognizing the contributions made by Mr. Gnau's law practice to the City of San Diego. Mr. Gnau's favorite charities include Rady Children's Hospital, Mary Birch Hospital for Women, and Gilda's Club.
