ABOUT Steven M. Kaufman

Mr. Kaufman is one of the three founding partners and presently managing partner of the law firm of Kaufman, Nichols & Kaufman, PLLC. From 1979 through December 2013, for 35 years, Mr. Kaufman was founding and managing partner of Farr Kaufman. From 1977 until founding Farr Kaufman, Mr. Kaufman was a young associate in a large divorce and family law firm. Mr. Kaufman concentrates his practice in the areas of family and divorce law, personal injury, and criminal law.

Mr. Kaufman has successfully represented clients in contested divorce and custody matters, plaintiffs in personal injury actions involving substantial settlements, and defendants in all types of criminal matters. Mr. Kaufman was the President of the Utah State Bar Association in 1996–97.

Mr. Kaufman is actively involved in both the Utah State Bar and the Weber County Bar Association and was also President of the Weber County Bar Association in 1981–1982.

Mr. Kaufman graduated from the University of Utah, Magna Cum Laude, in 1973. Mr. Kaufman graduated Cum Laude from the Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington in 1977.

Mr. Kaufman and other partners own Harley motorcycles and are avid bikers. Mr. Kaufman also is the lead singer and bass guitarist for the local rock and roll band, Outrageous, an 11 piece ensemble, which he started in 1964 and has opened for such famous bands as Three Dog Night, Johnny Rivers, Jan & Dean, The Mamas & Papas, The Monkeys, The Beach Boys, and many others. The band still plays concerts to this day.

Mr. Kaufman’s son, Kris, was a partner in Farr Kaufman and now a partner in our present firm. Prior to coming to Ogden to join our practice, Kris practiced law in Salt Lake City. Mr. Kaufman’s daughter, Shana, owns and manages one of Ogden’s finest restaurants, Hearth on 25th. Mr. Kaufman and his wife, Connie, have been married for 45 years and have 4 grandchildren.
