Tim began his undergraduate education at the University of North Dakota. After obtaining his pilot's license in pursuit of a commercial aviation degree, he decided to transfer back to his home state where he completed his education at Colorado State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in management. Tim rounded out his undergraduate education with minors in economics and Spanish. After graduating, Tim remained in Fort Collins where he was a department manager at a local background screening firm. Seeking a change, Tim attended law school, graduating from the University of Denver where he was active on the Water Law Review and Phi Alpha Delta.
