Ms. Tachiquin-McHood is an experienced practitioner with over 11 years of litigation experience. She is a tireless crusader against discrimination and injustice. She is a writer, organizer, and oral advocate working for families, victims of criminal acts, those who have suffered wrongful accusations, civil rights violations, wrongful termination, and discrimination. Wendy has a broad knowledge base, is skilled in different fields, and loves learning new things.
While prosecuting criminal cases for the Gila County Ms. Tachiquin-McHood was awarded the Hour Glass Award recognizing her willingness to put in extra hours to go above and beyond the call of duty. Ms. Tachiquin-McHood studied disability law and special education law and as part of her studies represented a student with Asperger’s Syndrome in a moot court and wrote a paper on discrimination against those with disabilities serving as jurors. She has prosecuted and defended those accused of crimes who suffer from physical and mental disabilities and advocates for justice in these cases.
After finding many victims of human trafficking in her criminal cases, she helped to establish the La Paz County Coalition to End Human Trafficking and worked to bring awareness to the hidden crime. She supports self-education through personal research and taught many law students, attorneys and professors to use the Worldwide Online Library Catalogue (WORLDCAT) that allows anyone to access library sources throughout the world. She supports the Arizona Foundation for Women and their monthly “she talks” lectures and the Never Again Foundation’s legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence murder. She is also a runner, a meditator, an art and culture lover, an avid reader, and a learning and research expert. She encourages others to be creative, learn new skills, set and achieve goals, and follow their dreams.
