Lisa Colon is a Partner in the Fort Lauderdale Office of Smith, Currie & Hancock, LLP. Lisa is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar, and is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Mediator. Sher represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals in public and private real estate and construction matters. Lisa has experience with federal, state and local government contracting issues, and has represented clients on bid protests, Miller Act Bond claims, licensing, small, minority and women owned business issues and land development agreements.
Lisa worked on the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Terminal 1 expansion where she handled the contract negotiations and procurement of the design, program manager and construction manager. She has also worked on the development of a $300 million dollar mixed use condominium project, representing the owner on the land development agreement with the local government and she negotiated the design and construction agreements for the project. She handles construction and government contracting claims before federal, state and arbitration tribunals on behalf of construction industry clients. Lisa is deeply immersed in matters relating to small and minority businesses. She serves as General Counsel for the National Association of Minority Contractors. She is a fellow with the American Bar Association, Forum on Construction Law, and regularly lectures on a variety of construction and government contracting issues. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2012.
Lisa received her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Miami.
