Melyssa Ford, 41, is well known for her role in the music industry as she served as a hip-hop music video model for many artists as well as for her most recent role in the Bravo TV show Blood, Sweat, & Heels. Unfortunately, the latest headlines aren’t recognizing her for her next upcoming role or business venture, but for the traumatic accident she was recently involved in. According to People.com, Ford was driving on Ventura Freeway in Los Angeles in her 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited on her way to a bridal shower when an 18-wheeler truck merged into her lane.
In the process of switching lanes, the truck clipped her back right tire and her Jeep went out of control. Ford’s vehicle flipped three times before coming to a rest upside down. People.com released images of the accident scene and in one photo, you can see Ford’s Jeep flipped over and in another, Ford lying on the ground with a significant amount of blood on her face. She was surrounded by bystanders who were trying to reassure her and was later placed into an ambulance by emergency personnel.

Ford was taken to the hospital where it was determined that she had suffered a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain, and sustained severe cuts and bruises. She also had a 10-inch cut across her face that had to be surgically closed, according to People. Ford remains hospitalized.

After the incident, Claudia Jordan, a friend of Ford’s who shared one of the images People released, said that the collision“could have easily taken her life.” Fortunately, she survived, but will likely need some time to recover as the injuries she sustained were rather serious. Ford’s mother, Barbara Ford, told the source, “It’s so difficult in circumstances like these to live 2,500 miles away from my only daughter.” Ford’s mother currently resides in Toronto, Canada. She also told People that “Melyssa is strong, always has been. We are going to get through this together.”
Ford’s family is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the accident come forward with the details as they have not yet identified who the driver of the truck was.
Aside from the shock Ford’s family is feeling after learning of this severe accident, they also want answers. Apparently, the driver of the truck who clipped her Jeep continued driving and has yet to be identified. Ford’s family is now asking that anyone from the community who may have witnessed the collision or details regarding the truck or its driver come forward so that they can track this person down. The family initially agreed to have the graphic images released hoping that the photos would “prompt witnesses to come forward.”
And while the family waits for a witness who may help them connect the pieces to this unsolved case, Jordan has set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money to cover Ford’s medical costs and the ongoing care she will need.
