Michigan Police Officer Arrested After Pursuing a 15-Year-Old For Sex

A Michigan police officer is standing on the opposite side of the law after he allegedly attempted to engage in sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl, reports ABC 12 News (1). The officer, who has been identified as 44-year-old Todd Barrco, worked as a part-time police officer for the Vassar Police Department located in Genesee County, Michigan.

After a sex crime sting was launched by the Genesee Human Trafficking Oppression Strike Team (GHOST), it was discovered that Barraco had initiated plans to meet with a 15-year-old for sex, says the source. After attempting to go and meet the underage girl, Barraco was arrested on-site and was charged with child abusive activity, soliciting a child, and using a computer to carry out a crime.

The former Michigan police officer who was arrested on sex crime charges was also a former principal.

After Barraco was arrested for attempting to engage in sexual relations with a minor, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson and Chris Hanson, former host of the show To Catch a Predator, released details about the former police officer’s past.

Swanson said that Barraco had “bounced from multiple school districts while also working part-time as a police officer.” In 2014, the 44-year-old walked away from his position as the Dean of Students at Inlay City Schools. The following year, Barraco gave up his role as assistant principal at Westward High School. Then, in 2017, he relinquished his role as principal of Merrill Community School.

The source also noted that Barraco’s list of previous employment does go on. Given the severity of the crimes Barraco attempted to commit, it’s clear he could be facing serious consequences, including possible jail time.
